FAQ
WHO IS TRACK NATION FOR?
Our club is for adults (18+) who enjoy Track Cycling and are looking for like-minded people to train with, attend races with and form part of a track cycling community.
HOW DO I JOIN?
You can sign up to our club using the British Cycling membership portal. All of the information regarding our memberships can be found on our join us page HERE.
I’M NERVOUS ABOUT GETTING INTO TRACK CYCLING, IS THERE SOMEONE I CAN TALK TO?
YES! Even if you don’t want to join a club right away please contact us. We are passionate about the sport and want people to experience it to whatever level they are comfortable with. Our committee have all had their own experiences, we will match your query to whoever can help you the most.
DOES TRACK NATION CATER FOR UNDER 18’S?
Not yet! Because we are still small we are not yet able to welcome members who are below 18. In London there are several track focused clubs who are better set up to welcome youth riders. We would recommend VC Londres, Hackney CC and Herne Hill Velodrome Youth. To name a few. We will be looking to expand our memberships to youth riders as we grow so watch this space!
DO I NEED TO BE ACCREDITED TO JOIN TRACK NATION?
In order to join Track Nation, we expect members to either be accredited at a UK velodrome or to be working towards completing the accreditation pathway.
However, if you are interested in track and have no idea where to start, we are here for you (for those of us who have a physical or hidden impairment the pathway will be different, if you are struggling to find your way but are curious we can help you figure it out without a membership).
I AM ALREADY A MEMBER OF A CYCLING CLUB, CAN I BE A MEMBER OF TWO CLUBS?
Yes, we are here to compliment your road cycling club membership, not to compete with it.
It's often the case that traditional road cycling clubs have only a handful of members who complete the accreditation processes in place. We connect you with others who consistently attend track sessions and races.
British Cycling allows you to add a "second claim club", which lets you be part of two cycling clubs.
If you want to race under the Track Nation name you should make this your primary club in the British Cycling portal.
However, if you wish to train with Track Nation and race under a different club or have no intention to race then you can simply leave Track Nation as your second claim club.
WHERE IS TRACK NATION BASED?
We do not have a home, we welcome members to our community from across the UK. With indoor and outdoor velodromes hosting training sessions, regular track leagues and one off events there is always something happening that the club will be encouraging participation in.
ARE YOU AN AFFILIATED CLUB?
Yes, we are affiliated with British Cycling. You can find our affiliation page HERE.
CAN I TAKE PART IN TRACK CYCLING WITH A DISABILITY/IMPAIRMENT, HIDDEN OR OTHERWISE?
Most of the time, yes! There are so many avenues into the sport, we have a couple of members who ride tandem at competition level and ride with us whenever they can. One of our coaches has also ridden with a nonverbal autistic man, and we regularly ride with a person with left sided weakness. Get in contact with us for a chat so we can help you find a way forward.
